Vijayapura: The historic Mamadapur Lake in Babaleshwar Taluk of Vijayapura District is set for rejuvenation, thanks to an initiative spearheaded by Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil.
Patil, who is also the in-charge minister of Vijayapura district announced on Friday that Coca-Cola has come forward to rejuvenate the 16th-century lake constructed during the Adil Shahi period. The lake is one of the largest in the state.
Senior officials from Coca-Cola, Himanshu Priyadarshi and Mukund Trivedi, met with Minister Patil to discuss the details of this initiative.
Patil explained that the project would include the construction of a Bandhara and the development of an 800-meter tank bund. Additional works proposed include beautifying and strengthening the bund, installing fencing and handrails, creating footpaths, and setting up a children's play area.
The afforestation initiative, dedicated to the memory of Siddeshwara Swamiji, will cover 1,654 acres surrounding the lake. Patil expressed his optimism that, once completed, the project would transform the location into a major tourist attraction in the district.
