Koppal: Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara visited the family of the late Sub-Inspector Parushuram in Somanal village of Koppal district on Wednesday.

Parushuram, who had recently been transferred from Yadgir Town Police Station, died under mysterious circumstances on Aug 2, sparking public outrage and controversy.
During the visit, the Home Minister met with Parushuram's family members, offering his condolences and assuring the family of the government's support.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Parameshwara announced that he would speak to the Chief Minister to provide Rs 50 lakh as financial assistance to the bereaved family. He also assured that Parushuram's wife, Shwetha, who holds a BE degree in Electronics, would be offered a government job, either at GESCOM or Raichur Agriculture University.
He stated that the investigation is ongoing, and the post-mortem report is awaited. The FSL team has collected samples for further analysis.
Parameshwara emphasized that it is both a moral duty and an obligation to support Parashuram's family.
On the allegations made by Parashuram's family against a local MLA and his son, who they claim had pressured Parashuram for money, the Home Minister said that a case has been registered on the day of the incident, and the investigation has been handed over to the CID to ensure a fair probe without any pressure.
Parameshwara added that there is no need to hand over the investigation to the CBI, as the CID is capable of conducting a thorough investigation. He reassured the family that justice will be served based on the findings of the CID report.
He also took a swipe at the opposition, asserting that there is no need to learn lessons from them, and questioned why similar cases were not handed over to the CBI during the previous administration.
Dr. Parameshwara was accompanied by Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, Kannada and Culture, and Koppal District In-Charge Shivaraj S. Tangadagi, as well as Prasad Abbayya, MLA and Chairman of the Karnataka Slum Development Board.
Senior police officials, including Additional Director General of Police for Law and Order R. Hitendra and Ballari Range Inspector General of Police Lokesh Kumar, were also present during the visit.
Parushuram's wife has filed a complaint, leading to a case being registered at Yadgir Town Police Station under IPC sections 108 (Abetment of suicide) and 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), as well as sections under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, against Yadgir MLA Channareddy Tunnur and his son Pampanagouda Sunny Gouda.
Shwetha, Parashuram's wife, alleged that her husband was distressed over his sudden transfer and could not afford the Rs 30 lakh bribe demanded by MLA Channareddy and his son to stop it. She also accused them of humiliating Parashuram with derogatory and castiest slurs.
