Ballari: The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) is taking proactive measures by visiting districts to address complaints locally, thereby eliminating the need for officials and the public to travel to Bengaluru.

Chairperson T Shyam Bhat, who is on his tour to Ballari, told reporters that since assuming office, the Commission has visited 16 districts to conduct hearings and expedite case resolutions.
Giving details of the cases handled during his tenure, he said the Commission has resolved 8,061 of the total 11,200 cases pending and newly filed until December 2024. Meanwhile, 3,139 cases are under various stages of investigation.
Bhat explained that the district-level hearings have been effective in expediting case resolutions and improving public response. He also emphasized plans to recommend enhanced facilities for the Commission to the government.
The Chairperson encouraged filing complaints online or via postal mail, adding that third parties can also file complaints on behalf of victims who are unable to do so themselves.
Giving details about Ballari’s progress, Bhat said that of the 27 cases submitted to the Commission from the district, 20 have been resolved, while 7 remain pending.
Judicial Member S.K. Vantigodi emphasized the Commission's commitment to curbing human rights violations, stating that necessary directions have been issued to the authorities. He also warned against individuals misusing the Commission’s name to intimidate officials or extort money, assuring strict action against such practices if reported.
