Bengaluru: The Lokayukta Mysuru wing has served notice on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wing on Monday, asking him to appear before its superintendent at 10.30 am on Wednesday for questioning in cases related to plot allotment to his wife B.M. Parvathi by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda).

The Lokayukta police had earlier questioned Parvathi.

The Chief Minister has been summoned based on a first information report (FIR) wherein he has been named Accused No. 1 in connection with 14 plot allotments to Parvathi by the Muda in lieu of his wife losing 3.16 acres in Survey No.s 462 and 464 at Kesare village in Mysuru city.

Parvathi has been Accused No. 2, his brother-in-law Mallikarjun Swamy as Accused No. 3 in the case registered on September 27.

In the FIR, Lokayukta police registered cases against the accused persons under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988, Prevention of Corruption Act and Karnataka Land Grabbing Prohibition Act, 2011.

The FIR was registered after a special court dealing with criminal cases against MPs and MLAs at Bengaluru directed the Lokayukta-Mysuru to investigate case on a complaint by Mysuru-based social activist Snehamayi Krishna.

Besides, three private petitions by social activists — Snehamayi Krishna, T.J. Abraham and Pradeeep Kumar — filed petitions with the Governor over the allotments. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot in August accorded sanction to prosecute the Chief Minister. Challenging this, Siddaramaiah has filed a writ petition in the Karnataka High Court.

The High Court ordered the Lokayukta-Mysuru to register an FIR against Siddaramaiah among others and submit its report in three months.

Following the Lokayukta police registering the FIR, the Enforcement Directorate, Bengaluru registered an enforcement case information report (ECIR) against Siddaramaiah on the charge of moneylaundering.

After the ED action, Parvathi wrote to the Muda commissioner, announcing her decision to return the 14 plots allotted to her. Parvathi stated she decided to return the plots as per her conscience and the decision was voluntary.
