Mangaluru Police thwart illegal transportion of cattle

Mangaluru: Police officials of Uppinangady station intercepted a vehicle at Kaniyoor village of Belthangady Taluk and thwarted an attempt to illegally transport cattle allegedly for slaughter in Uppinangady on May 11.
A team led by Sub Inspector Bharat Kumar V from the Uppinangady Police Station intercepted a pickup vehicle transporting three cattle, their legs bound cruelly. Police said that upon questioning, the driver confessed to lacking the necessary permits and admitted the intent to slaughter the animals for beef.
Police officials have seized the cattle.
A case has been registered at the Uppinangady police station under Section 34 of IPC, Sections 5, 7, and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act 2022, and Section 11(D) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Police officials are investigating the case.
