SM Krishna death: Karnataka Govt announces public holiday on December 11
The Karnataka government has declared a three-day state mourning from December 10 to 12 and a public holiday on Wednesday, December 11, to honor former Chief Minister and Union Minister SM Krishna, who passed away on Tuesday morning.
The last rites, with full state honors, will be held on December 11 in Krishna’s native village, Somanahalli in Maddur Taluk, Mandya District.
As a mark of respect, all government offices, schools, colleges, and aided educational institutions will remain closed on the public holiday. The state will also prohibit all public entertainment events during the mourning period, and the national flag will be flown at half-mast on government buildings.
This gesture pays tribute to one of Karnataka’s most respected leaders, whose legacy spans decades of service in Indian politics.
