BENGALURU: Responding to statements made by leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will step down at the earliest, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday asserted he will continue as Chief Minister and there is no doubt over his continuance in the post.

When his attention was drawn to a letter addressed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to warn leaders not to issue statements on their wish to occupy Chief Minister’s post, Siddaramaiah said the CM’s chair has not fallen vacant for aspirants to stake claim for the post. When asked if leaders in the Congress party doubt change in CM, he retorted there is no doubt over my continuance in the office and leaders have expressed that I should continue as Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, State Bharatiya Janata Party president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra was sure of Siddaramaiah’s resignation and stated “There is not an element of doubt over the resignation of Siddaramaiah.” The State BJP Chief stated the resignation of the Chief Minister could happen at any moment.

Vijayendra alleged Siddaramaiah government is indulged in rampant corruption and pointed out fraudulent transactions in Karnataka Maharishi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation and plot irregularities in Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

Continuing, he said, at first Siddaramaiah stated no bank fraud in Valmiki Corporation and later admitted to the scam on the floor of the Assembly. Later, CM denied irregularities in plot distribution in MUDA but a former MUDA Commissioner was placed under suspension.

The action against the former MUDA Commissioner is an indicator of admission of irregularities by the Chief Minister, he said.
