Hosapete: Vijayanagara District in-charge Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan performed pooja to mark the commencement of the installation work of a stop gate at the Tungabhadra Dam on Wednesday. The installation of a stop gate became necessary after spillway gate No. 19 was washed away on the night of August 10.

The minister held discussions with technical expert Kannayya Naidu, who assured that the stop gate would be completed within two days. District In-charge Secretary Naveen Raj Singh, Deputy Commissioner Diwakara, and SP Haribabu were present at the event.

Speaking to reporters later, Minister Zameer stated, "Today, we conducted the pooja to start the work for the installation of the stop gate. The experts have assured us that the gate will be ready by August 16. The work will begin immediately."

He further emphasized the importance of the stop gate, noting, "Once the stop gate is installed, water flow will cease. The experts are confident of success. We are taking all necessary measures in the interest of the farmers."
