Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal announced that his Viswasanthi Foundation would initiate projects worth Rs 3 crore for the rehabilitation of the affected people in the disaster-hit areas of Wayanad.

The actor, who also holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in territorial army, visited the landslide-affected regions of Mundakkai and Chooralmazha. He conveyed his thanks to everyone participating in the rescue operations, including the Army, in these areas.

Adorned in military garb, Mohanlal, alongside director Major Ravi, was visibly touched by the devastation before him. Tears filled his eyes as he surveyed the destruction at Vellarmala LP School.

He announced that his foundation would undertake the school's renovation.

Upon reaching Mundakkai via the Bailey Bridge built by the army, the actor engaged with the soldiers and volunteers involved in the rescue operations. He saw the areas severely affected by the landslides, overseeing the activities of each unit.

Mohanlal also donated Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).

"I salute each individual toiling tirelessly amid disaster, including the generous volunteers, police officers, fire and rescue personnel, NDRF teams, military forces, and government officials. We have faced and conquered adversities in the past, becoming more resilient. I hope for our united strength and solidarity to triumph in these difficult times," Mohanlal stated on social media.
