Thiruvananthapuram: A Kerala court sentenced five RSS workers to double life imprisonment on Wednesday in connection with the 2013 murder of CPM worker Katakkada Asokan.

In addition to double life sentences, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each of the five convicts. Three other RSS activists (accused 7, 10, and 12) received life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 each.
The convicted individuals include Shambhu, Sreejith, Harikumar, Chandramohan, Santhosh, Abhishek, Prashanth, and Sajeev. Earlier, the court had acquitted the other accused in the case.
In 2013, Asokan, a CPM worker, was dragged from his home and hacked to death. This verdict comes after a lengthy nine-year legal process.
