Kerala: Actor Nivin Pauly Accused of Sexual Harassment, Case Registered
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police have filed a case against Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly based on a complaint by a woman who alleges she was sexually harassed by the actor in Dubai.
The case was filed by the Oonnukal police in Kothamangalam. Charges have been brought against Nivin Pauly under the sections pertaining to rape and the violation of a woman's modesty. Sections 376, 354, and 376D of the IPC have been applied.
The case involves six accused, among them Nivin. The complaint was originally filed with the Ernakulam Rural SP and subsequently transferred to the Oonnukal police station.
In her complaint, the woman claimed she was sexually abused by Nivin Pauly and others who had promised her an opportunity in Malayalam films.
The case will be subsequently taken over by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) established by the state government to investigate all cases related to the film industry that have emerged following the publication of the Hema Committee report.
According to police, a woman filed a complaint a month ago accusing Nivin Pauly and others of assault. However, there was no allegation of sexual assault in that complaint.
The local police had conducted a preliminary probe into the matter and submitted a report to the SP.
The police said there were discrepancies in the woman's first complaint.
