Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has begun the process of creating new documents for individuals who lost everything in the landslides at Mundakkai and Chooralmala.

Officials will visit the relief camps to gather information regarding the lost documents as per the Disaster Management Authority's guidelines. The data gathering is expected to be completed within two days, in collaboration with various departments.

Plans for the temporary rehabilitation of individuals residing in the camps are also underway. The local self-government department is set to finish gathering data on both government and non-government buildings in the panchayats surrounding Meppadi within a week.

The disaster has destroyed 352 houses and caused partial damage to 122 others. Those currently in the camps will be relocated to these buildings as they become available. Additionally, the minister has indicated that discussions are ongoing at the state level to establish a permanent rehabilitation mechanism.

Guided by Kudumbashree, a detailed micro plan is being developed for families in disaster-affected regions. The program will assign a community mentor to every group of 50 to 75 families. Five members from the state mission will oversee the project's implementation. Additionally, the minister announced the appointment of 20 community resource persons to support this initiative.
