LDF Investigates ADGP Ajith Kumar Meet With RSS
LDF Convenor Ramakrishnan says stringent action will be taken if any misconduct is found against the officer after the probe.
Thiruvananthapuram: LDF Convenor T P Ramakrishnan has declared that the government is investigating the allegations against ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, including his controversial meeting with RSS leaders.
He said that if any misconduct is found, stringent action will be taken against the officer.
Ramakrishnan was addressing the media following the LDF leadership meeting at the CPM headquarters, AKG Centre, on Wednesday.
The LDF meeting occurred against the backdrop of calls from CPM allies, such as the CPI, NCP, and RJD, for decisive action against the ADGP. The Chief Minister informed the meeting that the issue is currently under investigation and the government is awaiting the report. He also mentioned administrative issues as the rationale for the delay in immediate action.
The LDF Convenor highlighted that the investigation's primary focus is on understanding the reasons behind the ADGP's meeting with the RSS leadership. Regarding Speaker A N Shamsheer's comments in defense of the ADGP's meeting with RSS leaders, the LDF Convenor stated, "The Speaker holds a constitutional position and is entitled to his opinion."
The meeting between the ADGP and RSS leaders, including General Secretary Hosabale Dattatreya and Ram Madhav, has sparked significant controversy within Kerala's political circles. Opposition Leader V D Satheesan accused the ADGP of meeting the RSS leaders at the directive of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, suggesting that both the Sangh Parivar and the CPM aim to undermine the Congress in Kerala.
The opposition leader criticized the chief minister for his inaction against the ADGP. "Numerous police officers in Malappuram district, including the SP, have been relocated. However, the CM hesitates to confront the ADGP, fearing the officer may reveal sensitive information," he stated.
Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar of the CPI insisted that the ADGP's interaction with RSS leaders warrants a detailed investigation. He reiterated his party's stand for strict action against the police officer.
