Man Kills Lover's Toddler in Suryapet; Mother Taken into Custody

Suryapet: A man tortured and killed the 22-month-old daughter of his lover in their house at Ilapuram of Chivvemla mandal in the district on Wednesday night. Police said the accused, Bollenka Aravind Reddy of Gundaram in Nizamabad district, was absconding.

The baby’s body was found with her head smashed, bite and burn injuries, police said. The injuries indicated that the baby had been tortured for long.

The child’s mother Navya Sree who was away at that time noticed the murder after returning home over four hours later, and called the police, according to Chivvemla sub-inspector B. Venkat Reddy.

Police said Navya Sree had married one Laxman of Gundaram in the district about six years ago and the couple had two daughters Arunya, four, and the 22-months-old Mahanviki. Police said Navya Sree eloped with her Aravind Reddy a few months back and took the children with her.

On Wednesday, she left Mahanviki with Aravind Reddy and went to a local market and returned late in the evening and found the body.

Police took Navya Sree into custody and began questioning her.
