KURNOOL: Kurnool police organised a mock drill on the road near Rayalaseema University in Kurnool on Tuesday to raise awareness about maintaining law and order ahead of the vote counting on June 4.

District collector G. Srijana and SP G. Krishnakanth explained that the drill demonstrated actions to be taken against anyone creating riots or inciting violence following announcement of the election results.

The mock drill showcased scenarios, such as dispersing rioting mobs, suppressing destructive actions, restoring control, providing treatment to injured, and ensuring that common people remain undisturbed.

SP Krishnakanth said section 144 will be in force at the counting centre.

During the drill, police simulated clashes with persons disguised as protesters throwing stones. The police responded with tear gas, gunfire, Vajra vehicle deployment, and lathi charge to demonstrate how such situations will be managed.
