Permanent Measures Soon to Fix Inundation: Purandeswari
Kakinada: The BJP state president and Rajamahendravaram Lok Sabha MP Daggubati Purandeswari assured people to find a permanent solution to inundation of Yerrakalva, Kovvada and Tadipudi Kalva (canals) and the government would help every farmer who lost his crop.
She along with Gopalapuram MLA M. Venkata Raju visited flood-hit areas in Gowripatnam, Venkatayapalem and other villages on Saturday. Stating that 2,300 acres out of 5,000 acres in Gopalapuram mandal was inundated, the MP directed officials to prepare a detailed project report to prevent inundation of three canals permanently and after getting the report, the state government and the Centre would release funds for the project.
She said tank bunds should be strengthened to Yerra Kalva and she requested the farmers to cooperate with the government for finding a permanent solution for the inundation problem. A committee would be formed under the chairmanship of Gopalapuram MLA M. Venkata Raju.
The East Godavari district BJP president, Bommala Dathu, agriculture assistant director P. Chandrasekhar, B. Raja Rao and others were present.
