Reformed Drug Addict Takes Steps Towards a Healthier Life

Hyderabad: A BTech dropout, who was arrested in a joint operation by TGNAB and the Madhapur police on Friday, along with three others, for consuming ganja near Hitex, on Sunday appealed to youngsters to stay away from such vices and addictions.

The youngster, who had secured 800th rank in IIT-JEE and had got admission in the National Institute of Technology )NIT) at Tiruchirappalli, dropped out in the third year because of his ganja addiction.

The youngster, who was produced before the media, while narrating his nightmarish experiences, said “I dropped out of NIT because of my drug addiction. I wanted to change my life, but couldn’t because of various factors, including friends. I request everyone to change ‘friends’ who take you towards drugs. Change your lifestyle, do yoga or anything that can distract your mind from doing drugs. I am now into entrepreneurship.”

After dropping out of college, the youngster from Bowenpally shifted to Bengaluru. On coming to know of his addiction, his mother went to stay with him. Working as a marketing executive with a private company, he got to travel to different cities where he came in contact with drug peddlers.

He took to peddling ganja and MDMA to software employees and his friends. He was arrested by the Dundigal police in 2022 for supplying drugs. The very next year, he was arrested by Palakkad police and convicted. Even his mother falling sick did not stop him from taking drugs, he said.
