CHENNAI: The DMK’s students wing called for stopping the spread of caste and communal hatred in the name of spirituality, which has become a modern trend, and for creating a scientifically tempered egalitarian society, as enjoined by the Constitution, by sowing the ideas of rationalism among students.

A special resolution passed at the meeting of the youth wing’s coordinators and deputy coordinators at the State, district and city levels on Friday at the DMK headquarters, said that the youth wing should make necessary efforts to form the ‘Tamil Nadu Tamil Students’ Association’ in educational institutions, besides building the equal society envisaged by party icons, Periyar E V Ramasamy, C N Annadurai and M Karunanidhi.

The members of the students’ wing were asked to work towards relaunching the Tamil Nadu Tamil Students Association, which was formed by Karunanidhi in association with his school friends at Tiruvarur during his school days, in educational institutions.

Another resolution condemned the Union BJP Government for refusing to release funds to the State because the government led by M K Stalin would not accept the New Education Policy and said it was a bid by the BJP government to demolish the educational edifice of the State that topped in educational excellence in the country.

It condemned the Governor R N Ravi for criticizing the State syllabus, for working against the ideals of Thiruvalluvar and draping the saint-poet in saffron, for fabricating stories about the Tamil saint Vallalar. While Vallalar preached equality, Ravi portrayed him as one who followed Sanatana Dharma, it said.

Welcoming the Supreme Court order confirming the three percent exclusive reservation announced by M Karunanidhi for the Arunthathiar community, the students’ wing thanked Chief Minister M Stalin for turning Tamil Nadu the top State in industrialisation.

The meeting conveyed its gratitude to State Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for elevating Tamil Nadu to the status of the sport capital of India by bringing international tournaments and events to the State through his initiatives. A resolution mentioned with gratitude the conduct of the recent Street Night Circuit Formula 4 races in Chennai, which has encouraged sports tourism.
