Chennai: Villupuram district police granted permission to the nascent Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam to hold its maiden conference on the revised date of October 27 at Vikravandi with a strict instruction to abide by 17 conditions without fail.
At a meeting of the conference organizers called on Thursday to make the final arrangements for the party’ historic event, to be held at an over 180 acre open space, party general secretary Bussy N Anand issued a set of restrictions to be followed by all the participants, coming from across the State.
Among the striking restrictions is a ban on alcohol consumption. Participants have been told in no uncertain terms that they cannot enter the conference venue drunk, to ensure safety of women cadre, not to violate traffic rules while travelling to the venue and to be respectful to the police and other authorities.
The cadre have been asked to take care of their own safety by not sleeping on or crossing the railway tracks (the venue is close to a railway track), not to perform stunts while riding motorbikes, keep a vigil on areas having wells (the venue has many wells that the police, too, have asked the organizers to cover them up to prevent accidents) and not to overload their vehicles.
Vijay is keen on making the conference incident-free as it was there he plans to unveil his party’s principles, policies and objectives and to guide the cadre, who are mostly young film fans, on a political path that would lead to the party’s victory in the 2026 Assembly elections.
Sources said that the organizers would be entrusted with specific tasks that they would have to perform without fail. The cadre who would be congregating at the venue are also expected to be disciplined and well behaved as Vijay wants to make an impression with the general voters about his followers.
That the clear instruction given to the cadre to not cause traffic snarls is an indication of the party wishing to set it apart from the others as even political convention in the State sees massive traffic jams, earning the wrath of the common people.
