Tamil Nadu: Commercial tax collection goes up

Chennai:Tamil Nadu recorded an 11.59 percent growth in GST tax revenue as against the national growth of 11.59 percent, it was revealed at a review of the performance of the Commercial Tax department on Monday.

Collection of Commercial Tax in the State went up to Rs 79772 crore this financial year, till the month of October, registering an increase of Rs 9229 over the total collection of Rs 70543 crore made during the same period in the year 2023-24.

The review meeting on the performance of the Commercial Tax department, was chaired by Minister of Commercial Taxes and Registration, P Murthy, and held at the Integrated Commercial Tax (CCT) Registration Office, Nandanam in Chennai.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister instructed the Joint Commissioners to use modern technology and data to explore the possibilities of increasing the revenue of the Commercial Tax Department and work constructively to implement them.
