Telangana: 3 End Lives for Poor Results in Exams

Hyderabad: In separate cases, three intermediate students in Telangana took their own lives following the announcement of the supplementary exam results on Monday.

A 17-year-old MPC student from Thangallapalli Mandal, was found hanging at her home. The girl, who studied at Thangallapalli Model School, had failed in the main exams earlier this year and had hoped to clear her backlogs in the supplementary exams.

Her parents were devastated to discover her body when they returned home. Family members mentioned that she was deeply upset after failing in the supplementary exams, which compounded her earlier failure in the main exams.

In another case, an 18-year-old student from Ratna Nagar ended her life at her house in Ratna Nagar. According to Kachiguda police, the first-year student of Ambedkar Junior College, hanged herself from a ceiling fan on Monday night after her brother left. She was reportedly upset as she had failed in her regular Botany exam and the supplementary exam. The Kachiguda police have registered a case of suspicious death.

The third incident occurred in Jamikunta, Karimnagar. A 17-year old girl consumed pesticide after failing in two subjects in the supplementary exams. Despite receiving treatment at MGM Hospital, she succumbed to the poison.

This year, approximately 2.5 lakh students took the supplementary exams, with a pass percentage of 63.86% for first-year students and 43.77% for second-year students.
