Hyderabad: Justice Surepalli Nanda of Telangana High Court ordered notice to the principal of the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet (HPS), commissioner for tribal welfare department and others in a writ plea challenging non-promotion of a minor to Class X.

The judge took on file a writ plea filed by Pathlavath Shanker alleging that the respondents unjustly refused promotion to the minor son of the petitioner, on the guise that he had secured five marks lesser than the passing mark in the final English exam of Class 9. The petitioner alleged that non-promotion of his son denied the object of the scheme of sponsoring poor Scheduled Tribe category students to study in HPS. Many students were assigned grace marks and thereby promoted, he said. The judge ordered notice to the respondent authorities and posted matter for further adjudication.
