Hyderabad: A 19-year-old student died after he lost control of his car which hit a pillar of the Shaikpet flyover early on Friday, Raidurgam police said.

The deceased, identified as Charan, was an intermediate student, Raidurgam circle inspector Ch. Venkanna said.

"At around 40 am, Charan was driving at a high speed from BNR Hills towards Mehdipatnam," the CI said.

“Charan’s parents had separated. His mother passed away some time back. He was living in Yousufguda with his grandfather, Anjaneyudu,” the official added.

The car was found in a mangled state. Charan suffered injuries on his chest due to the steering wheel's impact. He was alone and not under the influence of alcohol.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Sri, one of Charan’s neighbours, said, “The (deceased's) family is inconsolable. He was on DN Reddy Service Road when the incident took place. The road is in a dilapidated condition and he was also overspeeding.”
