28 Women Graduate in Canteen Management from NITHM

 Hyderabad: Twentyeight women from the fifth batch of the Indira Mahila Shakti canteen management training programme graduated on Monday at the National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM) in Gachibowli. The programme, with each batch running for 10 days, has trained 137 women so far and plans to hold five sessions next year.

The initiative is sponsored by the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) under the panchayat raj and rural development department.

Participants learned how to prepare different types of rice, Telangana snacks, sweets, biryani, and gravies. They were also taught about food hygiene, planning menus, presenting food, getting permits, managing canteens, food services, and developing soft skills.

SERP director W. Johnson said rent-free spaces would be provided to the participants near bus stops. Chefs Dr M.K. Ganesh, Chef A. Mahesh, Shravan, and Michelle J. Francis, senior assistant professor, distributed certificates.
