Hyderabad: Sanathnagar police arrested three autorickshaw drivers on Monday for threatening and robbing a victim at knifepoint. The three accused Thakur Surender Singh, Biradar Santosh and Shaik Hujair Baba were arrested within two days and were remanded.

Police said they have registered a robbery case after a private employee Abhishek Kumar, 25, filing a complaint on November 16. The victim was returning to Hyderabad from Kurnool. After alighting a bus at the MGBS, he was approached by an auto driver while waiting for the taxi. When Abhishek boarded the auto, he realised there were two more people in it other than the driver.

The police said the driver stopped his vehicle in a secluded place near Sanathnagar Railway Station. Among the three, one of them took a knife, threatened Abhishek and demanded money. They robbed cash and a mobile from him. Then they slapped Abhishek and asked for his PhonePe password. They transferred Rs 1,181 and Rs 12,700 from his PhonePe account and demanded more money.

Immediately, the complainant called one of his friends and requested him to send Rs 200 to his mobile number. The three accused then thrashed the complainant and fled away from the spot. Police, after registering the case, analyzed the technical evidence including CCTV footage and got hold of the three accused.
