Hyderabad: The 31st All India Railway Protection Force (RPF) Athletic Meet-2024 was inaugurated on Sunday with enthusiasm and fanfare at Railway Sports Complex in Secunderabad here.

The prestigious event marks a significant milestone in the history of Indian Railways as 275 players from 15 zonal railways, including the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF), have come together to participate in 25 different athletic events. Their exceptional skills and athletic prowess in disciplines ranging from the lightning-fast 100m sprint to the awe-inspiring high jump will be showcased.

The event was graced by the chief guests, C. Madhusudhana Rao, President of the South Central Railway Sports Association, and DRM/Secunderabad, Bhartesh Kumar Jain. The occasion was made more special by their presence, and their words of encouragement were greatly appreciated by all attendees.

Speaking on the occasion, Rao said, “It is an honour and a privilege for the South Central Railway to host this magnificent athletic meet. Sports have a remarkable ability to transcend boundaries, languages, and differences, uniting us all under the banner of fair play and the pursuit of excellence.”

Ms. Aroma Singh Takur, IG-PCSC/Secunderabad, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and the spirit of competition. “The athletes gathered here are not just representatives of their respective zonal railways but they are ambassadors of determination, discipline, and the undying spirit of sportsmanship. Rigorous training, overcoming challenges, and pushing their limits have brought them to this grand stage,” he said.

The event highlighted the incredible dedication and hard work of the athletes who have come from various parts of the country. Inspiration is drawn from these athletes, reminding everyone that with dedication and perseverance, greatness can be achieved. The meet is not just about winning medals but also about fostering friendships, creating memories, and showcasing the potential that lies within everyone.
