WARANGAL: The state government plans to establish five new panchayats in Mangapet mandal, Mulugu district, to improve local governance and address resident needs.

District collector T.S. Diwakar instructed officials to prepare detailed reports and images of the proposed panchayats, highlighting their geographical features. These documents have been submitted for state approval.

Currently, Mangapet mandal has 25 panchayats, which will increase to 30 with the additions. Proposed panchayats include Thondyala Lakhmipuram, Narendaraopeta, Shanigakunta, Jabbonigudem, and Abbaigudem. Nearby hamlets such as Regulagudem, Gandigudem, Mothalagudem, and BC Colony will also be reorganised.

The new panchayats are expected to be finalised before local body elections.
