Khammam: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Saturday said that six roads with an estimated cost of Rs655 crore have been sanctioned by both the Centre and the state government for the erstwhile Khammam district.

Speaking at a media conference in his camp office here, he said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had included the proposed roads in the list that was sent to the Centre for sanction. Bypass roads for Kothagudem and Palvancha were sanctioned with the estimated cost of Rs 450 crore.

The state government has also sanctioned Rs 125 crore for link road between National Highway 365(A) and National Highway 163(G). Seven kilometers of ring road would also be laid with Rs 125 crore for Khammam town, he added.

Nageswara Rao said tenders would be called for the road works within three months after preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the officials.

The minister informed that the state government has also sent a report to the Centre for development of Kothagudem-Wyra-Thallada-Jaggayapet road into a four-lane road.

Reminding that highway from Bhadrachalam to Rajahmundry was kept pending as some part of the route would submerge due to the Polavaram project, he said the Center was requested to cover the highway from Ashwaraopet to Dammapeta.

Earlier, the minister also inspected the works of Sitarama Project at Enkuru. Khammam municipal corporation Mayor Punukollu Neeraja, former MLC Balasani Lakshminarayana, and District Congress Committee president P Durga Prasad were present at the meeting.
