80 ABVP Members Arrested at Basar IIIT Protest in Nirmal

Adilabad:Police arrested nearly 80 members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and its leaders on Saturday for attempting to stage a protest at Basar IIIT in Nirmal.

The demonstration was organised in response to the recent suicide of Swati Priya, a second-year PUC student at the institute. ABVP activists tried to gather in front of Basar IIIT and later at the Basar temple to avoid detection.

However, police identified and apprehended the leaders and students arriving by train at Basar Railway Station, as well as those near the temple premises.
