9 SRSP Gates Lifted as Inflows Into Godavari Continue

Nizamabad:Irrigation officials lifted nine gates of the Sriramsagar Project on Tuesday morning as there was an increase in inflows into river Godavari from upstream areas in Maharashtra. The project was receiving around 35,000 cusecs of water and the outflow was 55,013 cusecs by the evening.

The current water level at the SRSP was recorded at 1,090.90ft as against its full reservoir level (FRL) of 1,091.00ft and storage was at 80.053 tmcft against its gross storage capacity of 80.5 tmcft.

The officials were monitoring the flood situation by coordinating with the irrigation officials of the neighbouring Maharashtra. In view of the increase in inflows, SRSP officials lifted 5 gates on Tuesday morning and increased them to 9 gates by evening.
