Hyderabad: Congress Mahbubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy alleged that nearly 90 per cent of lakes in the state had been encroached upon by BRS leaders over the past decade, with former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao being at the forefront of these illegal activities.

Reddy accused Harish Rao of failing to implement forward-looking programmes, instead allowing large-scale encroachments of waterbodies. "Harish Rao does not like any good work done by the Congress government," Srinivas Reddy asserted during a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday.

The MLA claimed that Harish Rao was trying to escape punishment by visiting temples and seeking divine intervention.

Srinivas Reddy labeled BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao as ineffective and accused him of being more focused on social media than on ground. "KTR works only for tweeting," he remarked, adding that Rama Rao would enter the Guinness Book of Records for speaking hastily and apologising later.

Srinivas Reddy also linked the recent flooding in Warangal to the encroachment of lakes, asserting that the BRS's negligence over the past ten years has led to widespread discontent. He praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for taking proactive steps to address the issue by setting up HYDRAA, launching a campaign to clear encroachments in Hyderabad and reclaim illegally occupied land across the state.

"CM Revanth Reddy is doing a good job to free lakes and government properties from encroachers," he stated, referring to the ongoing efforts to remove illegal constructions. He urged the public to support the positive initiatives of the Congress government and warned BRS leaders against engaging in what he termed "mud politics."
