ACB conducts raids at Vemulawada temple

KARIMNAGAR: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials along with those from the legal metrology department on Thursday conducted raids at the historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple here in Vemulawada of Rajanna Sircilla district.

Receiving allegations of irregularities in various departments of the temple by the temple staff, ACB officials under the leadership of Karimnagar range DSP Ramana Murthy, circle inspectors Tirupati and Krishna Kumar along with others conducted raids from morning to night in the temple.

The officials are collecting financial transactions over past few years and details of the food materials used for the preparation of prasadams.

Recently, 28 employees in Vemulawada temple were transferred to various other temples across the state. The temple employees made several attempts to stop the transfers, but all their efforts went in vain.

Several employees working in key departments faced allegations of corruption. Even officials of the vigilance department conducted an inquiry a few months back and sent a report to the state government urging it to take immediate actions against the corrupt employees.

Responding to the report submitted by the vigilance officials, the endowment department issued show cause notices to 12 employees including three AEOs, four supervisors, a senior assistant, two junior assistants and two outsourcing employees along with cutting their increments.
