Nizamabad: For the first time in the political history of undivided Nizamabad district, without a cabinet minister post the administration of the district is continued for more than one year. Surprisingly, during undivided Andhra Pradesh, Nizamabad district got two cabinet minister posts in all governments. After BRS came to power in 2014, double minister post status was reduced to single minister.

Shockingly, after Congress came to power in 2023, no minister post was allotted to the district. Of 9 MLA posts, Congress party won in Bodhan, Nizamabad rural, Yellareddy and Jukkal Assembly constituencies. P.Sudarshan Reddy won as MLA for fourth time in Bodhan and Congress MLAs R.Bhupathi Reddy, Madanmohan Rao and Thota Laxmikanth Rao were first timers.

Sudarshan Reddy served as cabinet minister in united Andhra Pradesh from 2009 to 2014. People of Nizamabad district and Congress party scores strongly believed that Sudarshan Reddy would have picked up as cabinet minister in first cabinet formation, but in vain. Reportedly, Congress high command offered him Assembly Speaker post, but unwilled to accept it.

For the last five decades, Argul Rajaram, T.Bala Goud, D.Satyanarayana, Basheeruddin Babu Khan, Mandava Venkateshwar Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Nerella Anjaneyulu, Aleti Mahipal Reddy, S.Santosh Reddy, D.Srinivas, Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Vemula Prashanth Reddy served as cabinet ministers. K.R.Suresh Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy from the district served as united Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state Assembly Speakers.

Abnormal delay in cabinet expansion adversely affects the administration in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts and morale of Congress party scores. Bodhan MLA P.Sudarshan Reddy is known for simplicity and integrity in Congress party affairs. His followers believed that he might be elevated as cabinet minister for a strong portfolio. After being elected as Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee treasurer, Sudarshan Reddy played a key role in party affairs in Telangana state.

Political analysts said that Nizamabad is a politically powerful district and it is urgently required cabinet minister post. On the other political opponents like BJP won three MLA posts in Nizamabad urban, Armoor and Kamareddy Assembly segments and BRS in Banswada and Balkonda Assembly constituencies. For multiple benefits, cabinet minister post is required for the district, a senior Congress leader said.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, senior Congress leader on condition of anonymity said that Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy is in favour of cabinet minister for Nizamabad district. Congress party high command did not give permission for the expansion of the cabinet due to various reasons, he said. Out of 6 vacancies, the party high command should at least give permission for 3 posts as immediate need of political and social equations, he opined.
