Allu Arjun didn’t speak like real hero but only read script, alleges Congress MP
Hyderabad: A day after film actor Allu Arjun said that efforts were being made to assassinate his character, Congress MP Ch Kiran Kumar Reddy found fault with the actor’s remarks and added that the actor failed to enquire about what exactly happened in Sandhya 70 MM theatre in Chikkadpally while leaving the premises on night of December 4, 2024.
He criticized the actor’s claim that legal issues prevented him from visiting the hospital, where the boy was undergoing treatment and the police station to enquire about the incident. “Allu Arjun did not speak like a real hero but he read only a script,” he said, adding that the actor’s statement lacked clarity.
The actor’s statement that he came to know about the incident the next day after leaving the theatre the previous night indicated that his focus was on how much revenue the Pushpa-2 would generate. But an attempt was not made to know about the stampede.
In his scripted text, the actor expressed concern for assassinating his character ignoring the interest of a family affected in the stampede at the theatre. In a short video released here on Sunday, Reddy said the actor hurriedly called a press meet a few hours after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy explained a series of consequences that resulted in a stampede at the theatre.
A woman, Revathi from Dilsukhnagar died on the spot while her nine-year-old son Sritej, is undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital here during the stampede that took place while screening the premier show of Pushpa-2 movie.
“We felt that you (Allu Arjun) would agree to whatever said by the Chief Minister was genuine and the film fraternity would behave in a responsible manner in future. A message was also expected from a real hero accepting the mistake,” he said.
“But the actor attended the press meet with a note and looked like he behaved as a cinema hero only. After considering the fact that he worked hard for three years to make Pushpa-2 movie, the Congress government accepted the actor’s request and permitted for special shows,” he said.
He further stated that as part of the Congress government initiative to protect the interest of all sectors including the cinema industry, the Chief Minister and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy allowed a hike in ticket prices.
However, the Chief Minister said the industry must be careful while organizing premier shows in future to prevent reoccurrence of Sandhya theatre incidents or else he would not give permission to them until he was the Chief Minister.
“It is not the Chief Minister’s personal views and only responded to a question raised by the MIM. He spoke in view of the interests of the people in the State,” the Congress MP explained. In a three-hour movie, the audience would generally see a real hero in an actor while watching it. At the same time, the audience would like their favorite actor to be a real hero outside also.
