Hyderabad: As part of the ongoing preparations for the Ganesh idol immersion, Milad-Un-Nabi celebrations, and other events lined up in the upcoming week, City Police Commissioner CV Anand visited the South East Zone first followed by the East Zone here on Thursday.

He said both the zones were sensitive due their diverse and mixed population. Instilling a sense of support and freedom to the officers, Anand emphasized maintaining watch over unscrupulous and communal elements and counseling and binding them over those who are likely to disrupt communal harmony.

They were urged to be self-motivated, firm in doing their tasks and mentally prepared to handle any situation and that the Police Commissioner is there to protect them in their efforts.

The Special Branch (SB) officers briefed the top brass on recent incidents and outlined on-ground obstacles, particularly those impeding the smooth movement of Ganesh idols procession. Specific directives were given to ensure procession vehicles follow designated routes appropriate to the height of idols, active community engagement and other operational aspects necessary for the upcoming events.

Traffic officers were directed to maintain decongestion of lanes and ensure a smooth flow of processions.
