Auction of coal blocks kicks off political debate between Congress, BRS
On information that Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is also scheduled to participate in the launch of the coal auction, the BRS has questioned the logic behind putting the blocks on sale, instead of allocating them to Telangana's Singareni Collieries
Hyderabad: Union coal minister G. Kishan Reddy's schedule to launch the auction of 60 coal blocks spread in various parts of the country, including Telangana, kicked off a political debate between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS.
On information that Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is also scheduled to participate in the launch of the coal auction, the BRS has questioned the logic behind putting the blocks on sale, instead of allocating them to Telangana's Singareni Collieries.
BRS working president posted a tweet reminding Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy that as PCC President and MP in 2021, he had demanded the Union government to stop the auction of coal blocks and transfer of the 4 coal blocks to Singareni Collieries.
But now, as the CM, you have sent the deputy CM to participate in the auction which you and your party had opposed vociferously in the past.
KTR asked Revanth Reddy the reason behind the change in his stance and the compulsions that led to the change.
Countering the charges, Revanth Reddy posted another tweet stating that all the leaders and cadre of Congress in Telangana strongly oppose privatization or selling off of stakes of our people by either the Central government or erstwhile KCR government.
Revanth reminded that the first and second tranches of selling off blocks of Singareni was done by the Centre when KCR was the CM to two companies Aurobindo and Avantika, who he said, were the BRS' near and dear.
"You or your party never spoke of it."
The CM said that Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka went to not only protest against further privatization and auction of Singareni blocks but to demand revoking and return of coal block sold off to Aurobindo and Avantika.
Revanth Reddy also posted another tweet posted by him on December 11, 2021 in which he mentioned of writing a letter to the PMO to immediately stop the auction of four coal blocks in Singareni Collieries and transfer them to the SCCL.
It is a matter of concern for thousands of skilled and unskilled workers, he tweeted.
