Nalgonda:A report of a woman delivering a baby in a wheelchair, in the absence of a proper bed, at the Government General Hospital (GGH) of Nalgonda has kicked up a storm.

Doctors of the hospital rejected the report published in a digital news daily and termed it as malicious.

Nallavelli Ashwini was referred to GGH at Nalgonda on Thursday night by doctors of the area hospital of Devarakonda. Doctors at Nalgonda tried to ensure a normal delivery, but she suddenly developed pains and sat in a wheelchair at the place.

Head of the department of gynaecology Dr Swaroopa Rani said that immediately after Ashwini went into labour, a doctor and nurses shifted her to the operation theatre and performed delivery. Both mother and baby were healthy.

She alleged some persons were trying to damage the image of the government hospital. She suspected that they might have been working on behalf of private hospitals.

Additional collector T. Purnachandra visited the hospital and inquired about the incident. Ashwini did not lodge any complaint.
