Hyderabad: Responding to a report published in these columns, ‘Bagh Amberpet continues to get dirty water’, officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Monday clarified that immediately on receiving the complaint about contaminated water supply, the general manager (E) and CGM (Engg.) made an inspection of Bharath Nagar colony from H.No.2-2-645/A/2/F to 2-2-644/2 in Bagh Amberpet on June 3. They took up rectification works immediately by using a pollution identification machine. To substantiate their claims, board officials also attached photographs of the repair works underway at the leakage points. Officials observed that the old damaged sewer line was contributing to the pollution. The board management sanctioned Rs 14.50 lakh to take up sewer line work in the last week of June. Presently, under a tender process, the work will be taken up on a war-footing, the officials said.

They also advised the consumers to replace their old damaged individual service connections to avoid such water pollution.

Meanwhile, when this correspondent contacted the resident, Rakesh Gogikarwho complained about the contaminated water supply, he rubbished the claims. He said no repair work had been undertaken.

"I received a call from a local leader, who wanted to know why I had approached the media with the complaint,” he said.
