Hyderabad:BC Commission chairman G. Niranjan said that the panel had received 1,336 requisitions for change of caste grops on the second day of their enquiry. “Many applications sought reorganisation of the caste in proportion to their population,” he said.

Representatives of many caste organisations highlighted the problems faced by them, Niranjan said. “Nayi Brahmins sought recognition as employees of the temples while Gangaputrulu caste members asked they be reserved 50 per cent of the fish ponds and halls in commemoration built for use by the community.”

They also asked for establishment of federations for various castes. The commission thanked all those who cooperated with them in their work.
