Be ready for retaining wall construction from Rayapatnam Bridge: Bhatti
Madhira: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Finance and Energy Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Friday gave instructions to officials to start “Nenu - Na Madhira” Clean and Green programme in Madhira constituency on November 14 to mark birth anniversary of first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru.
Bhatti held a review meeting on Madhira municipality activities with officials concerned at his camp office in Madhira on Friday. District Collector Muzammil Khan attended the meeting.
The Municipal Commissioner explained to the Deputy Chief Minister about the sanitation programme, development works and other activities being taken up in Madhira municipality.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhatti Vikramarka said that effective measures should be taken to improve sanitation in Madhira municipality limits and ‘ Nenu Naa Madhira’ clean and green programme should be taken up in partnership with people in a unique way to keep the municipality clean. He also instructed officials to take steps to start the programme on November 14, birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Parks should be provided everywhere to make the town look green and works on internal road leading to the old dumping yard should be completed soon.
Bhatti also said that proposals should be drawn for construction of a modern building to Madhira municipality. If building constructions crossed the municipal road limits, the Municipality Commissioner alone should take the responsibility, he said.
He asked officials to take measures to ensure that street lights in all colonies of the municipality are functioning properly and CC roads restoration works be completed in all the areas inundated by floods in the town.
In the wake of flood waters from the Wyra canal flooding the town due to heavy rains, proposals for construction of retaining wall from Rayapatnam bridge to railway bridge should be kept ready, Bhatti said adding estimates be prepared in the presence of Collector and municipal and irrigation department officials.
Speaking about sanitation in the town, Bhatti said awareness programmes would be organised so that people would segregate wet and dry garbage before handing it over to the sanitation workers. Steps must be taken for distribution of separate bins for wet and dry garbage to every household.
Every day sanitation workers must go to every house to collect garbage and transport it to the dumping yard. To keep Madhira town clean, he said required sweeping machines be purchased.
Tree cutters and grass cutters must be purchased for removal of weeds in the town and mandal headquarters under Madhira Assembly constituency, Bhatti instructed the Collector. Care should be taken to keep public toilets clean and also develop greenery in the vicinity. Awareness be created to owners of vacant lands to ensure no garbage is dumped in those lands.
Bhatti directed the Municipal Commissioner to connect the GPRS tracking to the Collector’s mobile to know the movement of sanitation vehicles in Madhira municipality. He also said pending works in integrated markets be completed and suggested to the Collector to examine the Madhira government junior college land to set up government ITI.
Later, Bhatti held a review meeting with Irrigation department DE Naga Brahmaiah and other officials and instructed them to complete Mahadevpur lift irrigation scheme works by June and submit proposals for any repair works to Jalimadi left and right canals.
District Collector Muzammil Khan asked the officials to identify the vulnerable areas where garbage dumping is more and get them cleaned. Strict monitoring be taken up to ensure sanitation workers are attending regularly to sanitation work at the field level and attendance be supervised. Everyone should be given responsibility, he said.
