Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Congress government is committed to filling two lakh vacancies across various departments, as promised during the Assembly polls. Speaking at the inauguration of a civil services coaching centre in Ashok Nagar on Thursday, Bhatti said that 50,000 positions had been filled over the past 11 months.

"Our promise to secure government jobs for natives was one of the key achievements of Telangana's formation," he said. To streamline the recruitment process, the Congress government has introduced an annual job calendar, a unique initiative in the country, which provides a clear schedule for competitive exams on the lines UPSC recruitment calendar. He highlighted that TGPSC Group 1 exams have already been successfully conducted, and Group II exams are scheduled soon.

Bhatti also stressed the integrity of the recruitment process, noting that exams are conducted smoothly without issues like paper leaks or other malpractices.

In addition to creating jobs, the state government is focusing on supporting economically-disadvantaged aspirants for competitive exams. Bhatti announced that the energy department has extended a financial incentive of ₹1 lakh to candidates from Telangana who qualify for the UPSC Mains exam. Another ₹1 lakh will be provided to candidates who proceed to the interview. This initiative aims to help financially-challenged candidates access necessary study materials and specialized training.

The Deputy Chief Minister stressed the importance of representation from Telangana in the civil services, saying that it would benefit the state in areas like policy design and budget management. He further encouraged aspiring civil servants to focus on relevant topics and strategies to improve their chances in the exams.

"More students from North India are clearing the civil services exams, largely due to the greater number of coaching facilities available there,” he noted, underscoring the need to establish more training centres in Telangana to boost the success rate of candidates from the state.
