Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister and power minister Bhatti Vikramarka asked chief engineers of all hydel projects to take measures to improve the hydel power generation. At a review meeting with officials of thermal projects, Bhatti directed that coal reserves be maintained for at least 17 days in each thermal power plant.

“Working in the power sector means working round the clock. The staff and officers must keep in mind to be ready to work round the clock for the department. It is a service oriented department, which fills light in the lives of the people. I am too ready round the clock to listen to the grievances of employees,“ Bhatti told the officials.
Bhatti asked the officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan and work accordingly to reach the power generation targets. He reminded the employees how the power generation had been badly hampered earlier in Srisailam and Jurala hydel projects due to failure of the staff to address the technical problems, which resulted in heavy losses. Such things should not recur, Bhatti said and asked the officials to send weekly reports.
Bhatti asked the officials to inform the principal secretary, power, if any problem arose with regard to generation. If chief Engineers take a wrong decision, a written explanation must be sought from them, he said.
Principal secretary (finance) Sandeep Kumar Saltania, Transco JMD Srinivas, energy OSD Surender Reddy, Genco directors and CEs attended the meeting.
