Hyderabad: The state government aims to introduce a new Revenue Act (RoR Act) along with the Bhumata portal, replacing the current Dharani portal on December 7. This change is intended to coincide with the first anniversary of the Congress government in office on December 7.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will hold a comprehensive review meeting on November 11 to discuss the draft of the new RoR Act, during which key decisions about the Bhumata portal are expected, according to official sources.

Replacing the Dharani portal and instituting a new Record of Rights (RoR) Act was a prominent election promise by the Congress, aimed at addressing concerns about the existing system. Shortly after taking office, the Congress government began efforts to phase out the Dharani portal and create a revamped Revenue Act.

The government formed the Dharani Committee to identify deficiencies in the Dharani portal and recommend improvements for the Bhumata portal. Additionally, a committee was established to draft the new RoR Act. In August, a draft of the RoR Act was released for public feedback, allowing stakeholders to submit their suggestions and objections through September.

Initially, the government planned to launch the new RoR Act and Bhumata portal on October 29, aligning with the fourth anniversary of the Dharani portal's inception by the previous BRS government in 2020. However, the timeline was postponed due to concerns about certain provisions in the draft RoR Act. The Chief Minister instructed officials to address these issues to prevent potential legal complications.

To resolve these issues, a full review meeting is scheduled for November 11. Following this, the draft RoR Act may undergo further amendments before being presented to the Legislative Assembly, which is expected to be convened in the last week of November. If approved, the new RoR Act and Bhumata portal will be launched on December 7, marking the Congress government's first anniversary in office.
