Warangal: The state government has officially constituted Urban Development Authorities in three districts: Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad, and Jangaon. These new authorities will be known as the Bhupalpally Urban Development Authority (BUDA), Mahabubabad Urban Development Authority (MUDA), and Jangaon Urban Development Authority (JUDA). According to G.O. No. 179, BUDA has been established with the single municipality of Bhupalpally and encompasses all 221 revenue villages across 12 mandals in the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.

As per G.O. No. 181, MUDA is formed with four municipalities: Mahabubabad, Dornakal, Maripeda, and Thorrur, covering 159 revenue villages across 13 mandals in the Mahabubabad district.

JUDA, established under G.O. No. 178, includes Jangaon Municipality and 133 revenue villages. Notably, Jangaon Municipality was founded in 1953 as a third-grade municipality and upgraded to a second-grade status in 2010.

In an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, TPCC official spokesperson Bandi Sudhakar expressed his support for the state government's initiative. He emphasized that the creation of these Urban Development Authorities aims to facilitate well-planned infrastructure development in major cities, towns, and surrounding villages, ensuring sustainable urbanization in these areas.

The establishment of these authorities also opens the door for the allocation of special funds to undertake various development projects in both urban and rural areas under their jurisdiction. Sudhakar highlighted that this initiative will not only enhance the beautification of towns but also foster significant development in nearby villages.

Additionally, the government is expected to form a special five-member committee to oversee the Urban Development Authorities. This committee will be chaired by the district collector and include the additional collector of local bodies as vice-chairman, the chief secretary of the finance department, the director of the municipal department, and the director of the town planning department.
