Hyderabad: The BJP’s state president and Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday said they would not allow demolition of even a single house on the banks of the Musi river as part of the Musi Riverfront Beautification Project, but would welcome this if the Revanth Reddy government takes up bringing Godavari and Krishna water to provide clean water to farmers of Nalgonda.
On Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s visit to the catchment areas of Musi river in Nalgonda on his birthday on Friday, Kishan Reddy gave a few tips to the Congress government on the Musi project. He asked the state government to construct a retaining wall to Musi river and divert all drainage water into sewage treatment plants before releasing it to the river. BJP leaders will spend a day with Musi river residents, eat and sleep with them to extend support to them. The BJP is against doing real estate business by demolishing the houses of Musi residents. The government can clean the river without demolishing the houses of the poor, he said.
In a chit chat with the media, Kishan Reddy also reacted to the caste census being carried out by the state government. The BJP is not against the caste census, but wants the government to fix 42 per cent reservations for backward classes in local body elections.
On the DNA comment leveled against him by transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Kishan Reddy said people are aware about his DNA and they do not need the certification from the Congress minister. He also announced that the party would announce its candidates for the MLC elections shortly. Kishan Reddy said BJP teams will visit the paddy procurement centers on Saturday to study the grievances of farmers.
