Hyderabad: The BRS has demanded immediate withdrawal of the state government’s decision to appoint Aditya Nath Das, a former chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh, as the Telangana government’s adviser on irrigation matters.

Former agriculture minister and BRS leader Singireddy Niranjan Reddy on Saturday in a statement alleged that Das’ appointment was at the behest of TD chief N Chandrababu Naidu, set to become Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister. “Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is following instructions from his former boss Naidu, and this is a clear sign of how TD’s AP leaders have started dictating terms to Telangana even before assuming office,” he said.

“How can the Telangana government appoint Das, who worked as principal secretary for irrigation in AP, and its Chief Secretary, as an adviser to the state government on irrigation here? Das fought for AP as an officer there, and played a significant role in moving Krishna water from Telangana to AP for 10 years. He played a key role in Pothireddypadu, Dummugudem, and Rayalaseema lift irrigation schemes in AP. How can such a person be expected to work in Telangana’s interests,” Niranjan Reddy asked.

The Telangana government, Niranjan Reddy said, can easily pick from many experts on irrigation who are in the state for the position, and must immediately rescind its orders appointing Das, he demanded.
