BRS MLA Accused of Illegal Construction Near Lake

Paramesh said that the lake bearing UID- 50431201901301 and Geo ID: 786543174230, was recently restored under the Mission Kakatiya Phase-IV initiative. During his inspection on August 22, 2024, Paramesh observed that the construction was being carried out in violation of the Irrigation Act, which prohibits any alteration or construction within the buffer zone of a water body. — X.com

HYDERABAD: Criminal cases have been booked against Jangoan BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, after the irrigation department lodged a complaint with the Pocharam IT corridor police that the Anurag University owned by him was built in the buffer zone of the Venkatapur Nadam Cheruvu.

The complaint was lodged by A. Parmeshwar, assistant executive engineer (AEE), irrigation department, of Medchal range. He named the Anurag Group of Institutions and Gayatri Educational Trust, as willfully and Illegally constructing the college building in the lake’s buffer zone

“We have received a complaint against the institution and the owner for building the structure on a buffer zone,ֲ” an officer from the Pocharam ITC corridor police said.

As per Irrigation Act, construction of any type of structure, altering the water body and its components is illegal, the engineer said and sought action. Police registered an FIR (390 of 2024) against Anurag Group of Institutions, Gayatri Educational Trust and its owner.
