Karimnagar: The Huzurabad police on Sunday registered a case against BRS MLA Padi Koushik Reddy and other party leaders under Section 35(3) of the BNS Act and issued notices to them in Karimnagar district.
On November 9, a large number of beneficiaries, including women and members of Dalit groups, led by Huzurabad MLA Koushik Reddy, organised a rally to Ambedkar Chowrasta and staged a sit-in, blocking vehicular traffic between Karimnagar and Warangal districts. They demanded that the state government release funds under the second phase of the Dalit Bandhu Scheme (DBS).
The police attempted to persuade the MLA to clear the road due to the heavy traffic congestion. However, the protesters began raising slogans against the government and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy when the police tried to forcibly remove the MLA.
After a heated argument between the MLA, protesters, and the police, the authorities forcibly removed the MLA and transferred him to the police station.
Circle inspector Bollam Ramesh stated that following a complaint by Huzurabad police alleging that the MLA and BRS workers staged a dharna without obtaining permission, a complaint was lodged against the MLA. Consequently, the police issued notices to the MLA and his supporters, he added.
