BRS Plea Seeking Transfer of Vote-for-Cash Trial: SC Issues Notices to Revanth

Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on a plea to transfer trial against him and others in the 2015 cash-for-vote scam, from Hyderabad to Bhopal. The court gave two weeks to file his counter.

The court was dealing with a petition filed by BRS MLA G. Jagadish Reddy and others, who expressing doubts that the state machinery may not be impartial in the case, as the accused was now the Chief Minister.

Apart from that, the bench, comprising Justice Gavai and Justice K.V. Viswanathan on Monday once again expressed strong disapproval of certain remarks stated to have been made by Reddy in the official Whatsapp Group of the Telangana Congress, regarding Supreme Court’s grant of bail to MLC K. Kavitha.

The bench also faulted the counsel for Jagadish Reddy, who tried to bring to the notice of the court a document, which consisted of the remarks of Revanth Reddy in the Congress Whatsapp group.

Senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra, appearing for Revanth Reddy, submitted that their client had already apologised.
