HYDERABAD: The BRS party on Thursday sought the filling of the sanctioned strength of judges in Telangana High Court saying there were several vacancies and this was affecting clearing of pending cases.

Former BRS MP B. Vinod Kumar told reporters that back in January of 2020, the Union law minister had announced that a decision was taken to have 42 judges in the state High Court. However, since the formation of the High Court for Telangana in December 2019, it never had more than 23 judges at any point of time, Vinod Kumar said.

He also said there was no representation to SC or ST communities among the judges and this issue too needs to be addressed. He urged the High Court Chief Justice to have the vacancies filled so pendency of cases can come down and justice is delivered faster.
